Responsibilities

Tasks

• Install built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt-saturated felts and hot asphalt, and gravel.
• Install a single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials, such as modified plastics, elastomeric or other asphaltic compositions.
• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements.
• Repair or replace shingles and shakes on sloped roofs of buildings.
• Repair roofing systems.
• Instruct apprentices.
• Supervise other workers.
•  Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools.
•  Install sheet metal flashings.
•  Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms.
•  Cut materials using power tools or by hand.
• Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment.
•  Assist Team Leads and Journeymen in constructing and assemblingg layers of roofing from insulation to all types of flat roofing membranes (Including TPO, EPDM, SBS, PVC).
•  Assist in the installation and/or repair of PVC and vinyl-type flat roofs of commercial buildings.
• Work on new roofing installations and the replacement of previously installed/damaged systems.
• Install sheet metal flashings.
• Maintain proper safety codes and procedures.
• Work as a vital part of a knowledgeable team to make sure that all work is completed in a timely manner.
